However, the smells that have been absorbed into the fibres can be released back into the air as humidity levels increase. Synthetic fibres, such as nylon and polyester, are less able to absorb smells than wool fibres. However, they can still hold a lot of smells as the fibres have a static charge, which attracts and holds fine particles such as dust and dirt.
