Architects are faced with an increasingly difficult challenge.  as we progress through the 21st century it is becoming more and more apparent that our environment is changing.  Whether these changes are a natural occurrence of the Earth Cycle remains to be seen,  but there is growing evidence to suggest, if not conclusive evidence to suggest, that we human beings are having a significant impact on the planet.  Our lifestyles are possibly going to have to change.  One of the ways  in which this change is going to come about is how we live and how we work.

Offices are still the mainstay of employment in this country.  Although there are still factories and manufacturing plants in the UK, most people will commute to an office.  Increasing pressure from companies to return to the  office  following the lockdowns of the covid pandemic have put further pressure on the Architects to design a building that can remain safe, cool and not use as much energy as previous designs.

One of the new design features that they are utilising is that of  Brise Soleil like that from https://alusystems.  Brise Soleil Is not a new design per se.  It has featured on many other buildings in the past.  It stems from a French design that used slat to create shading On the outside of buildings.  These wooden or increasingly metal slats were able to deflect The  strong sunlight away from the building creating a shading effect inside.  however the slatted effect also meant that people could see out so they had a view.
